What I recently worked on, an EPP and Embroidery mini.

Last year I came across a new to me embroidery company, Cottage Garden Threads, they are based in Australia and are a Mom and Daughter team.  I really love these threads and I am hoping to soon be carrying them here in Greece, so they are easier to get to the rest of the European countries.

Butterfly and Cocoon are perfect choices for making pretty embroidered moths on Alison Glass fabrics.

So this means I want to get rid of all of my "old" threads, would you like to win a jar full of threads? (jar not included :)

25 skeins of Sublime Floss and several handmade wound paper bobbins filled with DMC and Anchor threads, most of them have their numbers written in pencil or Frixion pen in case you want to know the number.

I love Aurifil and I just so happen to have a ton of Kona Cotton Solids.

I picked out my Rainbow of Aurifil and matched them up with the Kona, now in case you don't have 100 FQ's of Kona laying around or even Aurifil laying around you can always check with Play Crafts Palette Builder wonderful color tool, to find the perfect match!

Now my favorite Yellow and Pink from Aurifil is their Variegated thread, so I made my spools out of multiple fabrics for those spools.

4660 Pink Taffy, I use so much of this thread, it's crazy!

But my all time favorite color is Dove #2600

2600 Dove, works with everything, can only get one color get this one!

Did you notice I changed background fabric, yup, I was working along using Kona Snow (my favorite "white" fabric to use) and then when I was auditioning fabrics to represent Aurifil #6736 (my new favorite dark thread) it was up against my color blue and I realized that Kona Graphite made all the pretty rainbow colors POP!

Colors Pop off of the Graphite Background and the Aurifil #6736 matches very well

Sadly the only other color that I know for sure of as far as the Kona goes is my light blue color, that is Robin Egg, my all time favorite Kona blue color and I matched it with Aurifil #2805.

This mini is fun and easy to make, if you would like the pattern you can get it here.

It was windy and off and on rainy as we took photos today, I was hoping for a real rainbow, but no luck there :)

I would also really like to Thank my friend CeLynn for sending me a Bobbin Winder, it was very helpful for making this mini.

I use Aurifil #2600 when quilting the Variegated Threads, I don't want to waste any of the pretty Variegated color in the bobbin.

Said WIth Love Advent Calendar

Hello Everyone,
From the title you probably guessed I am getting ready to Celebrate Christmas Early!  And I am so excited that it is only 3 months away, can you believe it?
Are you ready to celebrate?  Do you have a hand made Advent Calendar to help you celebrate, or would you like to make one?

This is the Advent Calendar created by Anne Boundy of Said With Love.

Anne is hosting a Sew Along to make your own Advent Calendar, it is a relaxed Sew Along and there is no pressure, but I know I will be so excited to hang mine up on December 1st, here are the dates for the Sew Along.

Our Sew Along Schedule

26th September – purchase the pattern (a PDF will be emailed to you), select your fabric and start cutting
3rd October – start making the pockets
10th October – finish all the pockets (there are 25 of them to make!)
17th October – make the tree main section and borders
24th October – sewing on the buttons
31st October – catch up
7th November – quilting and binding
14th November – round up of the sew along

I must admit my favorite part was decorating the tree, it went from this

to this.

added some buttons on the tree with metallic thread and little puffed up presents underneath.

The big buttons were fun to put on too, especially with my button pins, haha.

Taking photos of it was hard, since it does come out to a fairly large size, I had to stand on a chair in order to get a full picture of it and our little stray kitty was wondering just what I was doing.

I have it all packed up right now and can't wait for the next 68 days to pass so I can hang it up properly.

I was a pattern tester for the Said With Love Advent Calendar, but I do love this pattern, it is charm pack friendly and you use all of the little pieces of fabric, and this will be a family treasure.
