June Goals and a Giveaway!

I'm a Procrastinator, are you a Procrastinator, please tell me you are?
I finished my last months Goals exactly on the 30th with just time to spare to take them to the post office, my friend had been expecting them for over a month.
3 Little Boy Suitcases
So as an apology for being so late and such a procrastinator I am making her a little something with my embroidered feather and also some luggage tags to go with the suitcases.  Those will be in the mail this month too, as long as I don't do anymore procrastinating :)
Then on top of that, I lost a clutch I had made and didn't like so I wanted to give it away, I found someone willing to take it and then had the great idea to box the corners and asked her if it was okay, she said sure, well I put it aside to do and then LOST IT!  I couldn't find it anywhere, where in the world did I put that darn clutch, well it was so flat, I had put it away with some fabric and didn't see it.  I finally found it while searching for some fabric for my charity quilt.
It looks so much cuter all boxed up.  First Finish of the Month.

I boxed the corners and can now finally after 2 months send it off to the wonderful gal who will give it some love.  I hope she enjoys it.
Now I NEED to finish 2 Charity quilts in 2 weeks, as part of the European Sibling Together bee, I really am not good at the whole getting the quilt top quilted part, so this should be fun.
I made a quilted bag for the girls charity quilt and I would like to do the same for the boys, so that maybe they can go to a brother and sister.  I made a tutorial for the bag above if you are interested, you can find it here.
I bet you are waiting for the giveaway, here I am all Procrastinating again, lol, just kidding my big Birthday Bash Giveaway starts on Thursday June 5th.  But today you can go and enter in my friends giveaway that she is having over on her blog and it ends June 5th, so hurry up and check it out, plus check out her procrastination project that she finished up lickety split.  Go visit Shirley Tener at SimpleSew and see what she is sewing up.

Sunday Stash

I won this lovely fabric bundle from Jen over at Jen's Crafts and Quilts.

They don't have a name on the selvedge but are a heavier weight fabric that will be really good for pouches, but I couldn't resist in using them for this months Europe Siblings Together block.

And I used my favorite fabrics from the pack
She wanted a low volume plus, this is a light purple flower, do you see it?
And I used some of this orange flower, the quilt will be for an older girl.
I didn't use this print since it is to large, for this project, but it is also one of my favorites from the fabric bundle.
I think the block turned out perfect.
Also last week I got my 5" charm squares from the Purple Charm Swap put on by Amanda at What the Bobbin.

I went a little wild, I originally took 3 spots, but when there were only 6 spots left and no one was taking them I stepped in and said, I will take them let's get this show on the road.  This allowed me to pick up some purple favorites that no one else was getting, like Joel Dewberry
Amanda also sent along these adorable pins, love!
I have realized from this charm swap, that I really really like tone on tone prints.
tone on tone in dots, chevrons, geometrics, and florals.
I also like the fussy cut able ones.
And my favorite designers
Alison Glass, Tula Pink and Kate Spain

Piecemakers Donation

My last fabric stop in the States was in Southern California, Costa Mesa.  A shop called Piecemakers, I had heard about it from Madame Samm, she recommended getting a certain sized needle from them.  I went the day after Thanksgiving and when I arrived I was a little shocked.
There were MEN inside the fabric shop and people EATING cakes and drinking tea.  I must have just missed the party because a few musicians were leaving.  I thought I was in the wrong spot, but nope I saw fabric, so I forged right in.

I found the sale pile and picked up a few pieces then I also got some notions at really really good prices (for a different blog post).  When I went to the counter, she said "Oh I see you found our flat folds" (that was the fabric on sale of different yardages and a pinned note of the  price per piece)  I told her that I was going to use them charity quilts and she said "do they need to be square pieces of fabric".  This got me thinking that she had some round pieces for sale too and I was kinda like no, we use all different sizes and make blocks depending on what the queen bee of the month would like us to make.

So she showed me this big bag.
As big as a child in a stoller
She pulled the fabric out and inside was a mix match pile of fabrics, some of them cut in really funky shapes and stacked on top of each other like an Orange County rich Mama just cut into a big pile of fabric to make drama school outfits.
There is one piece that is about 10 yards long that was just cut into, it is green so I think it must have been used to make a tree.  Most of them are cut like this
with a pencil mark and following a line, this one is Halloween fabric.  Susie (the women who was showing me this) took most of the Halloween fabric and Christmas fabric out since I said we really don't celebrate those holidays in Europe.  But I still got a lot of it in the bag, or it would have been twice the size (my husband would have for sure have killed me if I wanted to put all of it in our luggage).

Look at what I still got, some sparklies.

Even a piece of fabric that I know since it was the first piece of fabric I ever used to make a dress for my daughter, my parents got it from JoAnn's so I even know the brand.
Here she is wearing it again this year at IKEA, it is a repurposed baby onsie turned into a tank dress, I just cut the snaps off of the bottom and sewed a piece of fabric around it.

I made a pile of the ones cut WOF, they are all about 5 - 6"
The other pile I am slowly going through and ironing them and cutting them into manageable pieces, like I said one is at least 10 yards long.
I am working on it, to put together as little packages for my fellow European Siblings Together bee girls.
If you are in the Los Angelas area of Southern California then please make a stop at Piecemakers it is a fantastic shop.
