The Return

Here we are at the hospital and Nik is walking down the corridor viewing the pictures on the wall. He especially likes the animal scenes of tigers, monkeys and birds.
Two days after surgery and he is sitting up and playing with some wooden blocks that some frequent German tourist of KokaRoka brought for Nik.
Perfectly happy being wheeled about just a few days after surgery.
Last view of the hospital, goodbye.

We came home on Friday, just one week after the final surgery and one of the first things Nik did when he came home was dance on the bed. We now get to wear two piece outfits, pajamas (above) and jeans and a t-shirt (below). The staples will be removed on Monday at the local hospital, the only thing we are dealing with now is a very bad diaper rash.

Hi Mara, Arthur and Superman aka Popeye, I bet Leslie and Kelly have a solution for the diaper rash. I have heard them talk about it before. I am glad you are all home. As usual Baby Nik looks fine; you look a little tired I'm hoping things will be easier for you all, now. It would be nice if you could bypass the terrible 2's. Did you hide a few jelly beans? We wouldn't want Baby Nik to hang back at the American Community Easter Egg hunts. I'm hearing they are quite competitive. We are having a quiet Easter Day after Ron's visit, our Chicago neighbors have been here and dinner with our Tres Piedras friends. It's snowing here, but not too cold. Love to all, Ma

Hurray! Great to hear that everyone's back home!

So they didn't have to shave his head?

When he was a newborn they shaved his head because that was the easiest and most convenient place to find a vein, but as he became older they did the hand/wrist and the foot.

Yea! I'm so happy he is home and doing so great! Blessings are wonderful and we are thrilled that Nik is back home and healthy!

Oh, Mara. Bless his little heart. It kills me to see him with tubes and bandages. I can't imagine how hard that has to be for you and Arthur. On the other hand, you have been living with it for over a year, so you're probably used to it. I'm so thrilled that he is home and pooing like a trooper! :)

You look great by the way. And congrats to Nik on his US citizenship!

By the way, I can't figure out how to allow people to leave comment on my blog. I only receive them via email. What am I missing?
